  • When will the game be released?
Good question! We don't know, either. As many other indie developers, we cannot promise much more than a 'It's done when it's doneâ„¢'. As we're not yet able to sustain ourselves developing Kinstrife full-time, estimations are even harder. We hope to have the core game finished in two years, though. However, you can already try beta versions and at the same time support development! And as a nice bonus on top, you'll be the first to get the latest news and updates.
  • Who is working on this game?
Right now, we are a team of two, tackling just about any task that comes up over the course of development. This ranges from 3D graphics, animations, sound design and programming to administrative jobs like setting up this website. To speed up development, however, we would like to hire freelancers so that we can focus on programming gameplay. If things are going well, we would like to move on to developing this game full time (we still need to work other jobs right now to pay the bills) and maybe even hire more team members!
  • Can I support you guys?
We're very grateful for any support! Since we're a small team of two, we've only been running on a very slim budget (paid out of our own pockets) and a lot of passion up until now. In order to sustain and even speed up development, you would help us a lot by pledging support on Patreon and/or purchasing beta access. We are also looking to build an active community around the game, so we'd love to have you join our discussions on the forum and spread the word to friends!
  • Are you planning to involve the community during development?
Yes! Having been part of active game communities ourselves, we would love to have the same for Kinstrife. We plan to keep you in the loop with dev logs as well as pictures and videos on our channels. We'd also love to hear your questions, feedback and ideas in Q&A sessions and on our forum! And since we started out as modders, we are planning to create tools for modding the game.
  • What specs do I need to play the game?
MINIMUM: OS: Windows 7 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6 GHz RAM: 4 GB Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti or AMD Radeon HD 5770 Storage: 10 GB available space RECOMMENDED: OS: Windows 10 Processor: 3.0 GHz Quad Core RAM: 8 GB Graphics: 2GB ATI Radeon HD 7970, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or better Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Which features are you planning to add?
Our current focus is on establishing the core aspects of combat and campaign gameplay. We are also working on tools and infrastructure to support further development. Once that is done, we plan to move on to cool features like mounted combat, modding support and in-depth voice-acted storylines in other time periods and settings!
  • Why are you planning other time periods and storylines? Isn't this a medieval game?
Our current focus is indeed on a medieval european setting. But our vision is to create a framework for historical storytelling. This allows us to explore and showcase many other fascinating cultures, periods and events throughout history! And of course, each setting will have its own storyline and will likely come with additional unique features and concepts.
  • I remember seeing some of your content before - years ago. What gives?
We have been working on this project for almost 10 years. During this period, we have occasionally posted images, videos and ideas on various forums and YouTube. Some concepts may have changed over time, but our vision of the game has remained the same. We have also been honing our skills constantly and building prototype over prototype. With all this experience under our belt (in addition to other professional software development we have been doing), we finally feel ready to share the game with the public - and hopefully take the next steps in development along with you.
